This Broke My Heart
Last night I took the dogs to the dog park. While we were there a guy that I have seen before comes in with his two adult dogs and his 6 month old Pit Bull puppy. The puppy was dragging her hind leg behind her. I approached the owner to ask what happened. As I got closer noticed she had fresh bleeding wounds all over her body. The owner said they were on their way to the dog and she put her paw on the window control and rolled the window down then fell out, while he was driving 45 miles per hour!!! He said he looked in his mirror and saw her bouncing down the road. I told him he needed to get her to the vet. He said he called his vet but they were closed so he had to wait until the morning. By this time more dog owners has gathered to see the puppy. She was so lethargic already, she wanted to close her eyes and sleep (in the middle of the dog park)! I gave him the number to our emergency vet and another person with Internet on her phone looked up directions for him. He asked me how much is it going to cost him? Who cares! Is there another option? He cant just let her be in pain. He was such an Idiot! I can't believe he continued to drive to the park and then walk her in. I would have scooped up my dog off the road and went immediately to the emergency vet. Well, once he had directions and all the dog owners were telling him over and over that his dog is deteriorating in front of our eyes, he headed to the car. With 3 dogs he tried to make the poor puppy walk. He pulled on the leash, she would not budge. His other two adult Pit Bulls needed to be leashed and taken too so I told him I would carry the puppy. I opened her mouth before I picked up her broken little body, there was foamy blood, probably internal bleeding from a punctured lung. I held her in a baby position and walked to his car, she continually licked my face and neck. This poor little girl just broke my heart. I do hope he actually took her. This is what she looked like only a little older and chunkier.
